Leadership development programme for new and talented managers - US software company

Overview:
The organisation had developed a talent register and succession plan, and needed to groom the up and coming managers to be able to take on a more challenging role and lead a wide range of people effectively.

Broad learning objectives

  • Communication - relating styles, personal impact, listening, questioning
  • Behaviour - our impact on others, conflict, understanding others and adaptability
  • Delegation and performance management - coaching, giving feedback, setting SMART objectives and motivation

Solution:
We broke the broad objectives down into bite size sessions, each with pre and post work. The sessions covered the following topics:
Managing Self - psychometric profiling
Managing communication - listening, questioning, coaching, facilitating meeting, giving feedback and managing conflict
Managing others - motivation, delegation, team dynamics and influencing up, down and across.

The programme was delivered over 4 days, 1 day per month, with one to one coaching sessions in between.

The result:
There were 8 delegates on the programme from all over Europe. Each manager has been promoted and put into a more challenging role. The feedback from the programme was that overall it exceeded their expectations and they had grown individually and as a group.

As a result of this programme we are now delivering programmes across Europe.
